I notice, while she talks

She speaks, into my ears, far way and muffled

the music unhindered

pictures in my head, twirling with a new found happiness

ends abruptly

her voice is now too clear

a pause, the phone rings, my voice, sound-less spells ‘Hello’

two minutes of exchanged words, an untimely end

Back to her muffled voice, she lies on the bed, her head away from me, her fingers placed on the table’s wooden cover

she tries to break it, what’s it called, the covering on the wooden furniture, Aaah a laminate

she quietens, a room with a covered window,;no dreams can flee from here

there’s peace in both of us

as long as

she sits opposite to me
